Thousands Celebrate Coup Against President Pierre Nkurunziza In Burundi's Capital [Photos]

Police have vanished from the streets of Burundi's capital, Bujumbura, the Associated Press news agency reports.

It says that thousands of people are celebrating a coup attempt against President Pierre Nkurunziza, who is in neighbouring Tanzania.



Thousands are moving to Independence Square. Police are watching on the sidelines and some soldiers are giving the thumbs up sign to protesters. BBC reports
